The Nkawkaw Escarpment is a dramatic geological formation in the Kwahu District of Ghana, marking the steep edge of the Kwahu Plateau. Rising up to 200 meters, this sandstone ridge towers over the town of Nkawkaw and gives spectacular views of the Pra River valley. Geologically, the escarpment is part of a prehistoric rift system and displays distinct layering from the Paleozoic era. The ridge is not only a physical barrier but also a cultural landmark, marking the transition from Ghana's coastal plains to the highlands. In recent decades, the Nkawkaw Escarpment has become an international hub for paragliding, particularly during the annual Kwahu Easter festival, which attracts thousands of visitors.
