The PCK Refinery in Schwedt/Oder is one of the most critical industrial sites in eastern Germany, securing the energy supply for the Berlin-Brandenburg region since its commissioning in 1964. Originally founded as the 'Schwedt Crude Oil Processing Works,' the facility now processes up to 12 million tons of crude oil annually. The refinery has historically been connected directly to eastern oil fields via the Druzhba pipeline and provides a majority of the jet fuel for Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) as well as fuel for almost all gas stations in the Berlin metropolitan area. Given the current geopolitical shifts and the green energy transition, the site is undergoing a historic transformation toward producing green hydrogen and synthetic fuels. PCK is not only a major economic driver for the city of Schwedt but also ensures supply security for millions of people across northeastern Germany through its complex facilities and integrated logistics networks.
