Mount Pleasant is a quiet residential settlement on Great Exuma, Bahamas, located southeast of the island's capital, George Town. The area is notable for its elevated topography, which granted the settlement its name and provides expansive views over Exuma Sound and Elizabeth Harbour. Historically, Mount Pleasant developed as an agricultural community where formerly enslaved people cultivated land following emancipation. Today, the area features a blend of traditional Bahamian residences and newer vacation villas that benefit from proximity to the pristine beaches of the eastern coast. Queen’s Highway, the island's primary arterial road, runs directly through the settlement, connecting it to the northern and southern regions of Exuma. Fertile soils in the vicinity are used to grow local fruits and vegetables for the markets in George Town. The community is recognized for its strong social ties, frequently hosting local festivals and gatherings centered around the village church.
