Andros Town

Andros Town, also known as Fresh Creek, is the administrative center of Andros Island, the largest island in the Bahamas by land area. The town is situated at the mouth of Fresh Creek and serves as the primary gateway to the Central Andros region. Geographically, the town is defined by its proximity to the world's third-largest barrier reef and the famous blue holes, which attract divers from across the globe. Historically, Andros Town was a significant location for timber production and sponge harvesting before tourism, particularly bonefishing, established itself as an economic pillar. The town hosts the renowned Autec research center of the US Navy, used for underwater acoustic testing.
