San Antonio Hill (Uruguay)

Weather…

Cerro San Antonio is a prominent hill located in the resort city of Piriápolis, in the Maldonado Department. Standing at 130 meters above sea level, it provides one of the best panoramic views of the Uruguayan coast, including the city of Piriápolis, its port, and the surrounding beaches. Visitors can reach the summit via a chairlift, inaugurated in 1978, or by a winding road. At the top, there is a small chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony, as well as a statue of Stella Maris (Star of the Sea), the patron saint of sailors. The hill is part of the urban and alchemical concept designed by Piriápolis's founder, Francisco Piria, in the late 19th century. Piria believed the hill possessed a special energy. Today, it is one of the main tourist attractions in the region, drawing visitors year-round to enjoy the views, the tranquil atmosphere, and its historical connotations.
