Vose, in the Vose District of Khatlon Province, is an important agricultural supply centre south of Kulob. With about 30,000 inhabitants the town is growing fast, mainly thanks to irrigation projects along the Kyzylsu River that allow the cultivation of cotton, tobacco, pomegranates, mulberries, and sesame. The district is named after the folk hero Vose Shomurodov, who at the start of the 20th century led an uprising of poor peasants against the bek of Baljuvon. Several monuments and a local history museum recall this past. Nearby rises the unique salt mountain Khoja Mumin, a geological wonder with a pure salt dome about 900 metres tall and long salt caves. Economically, Vose is benefiting from the upgrading of the Kulob, Bokhtar highway and from new food-processing plants now coming on stream.

The city is located at an elevation of approximately 450 meters above sea level.
