Punta Culebra Nature Center (Panama)

Weather…

The Punta Culebra Nature Center is an interactive open-air museum operated by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) on the Amador Causeway. Located right at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal, the center is dedicated to Panama's marine and coastal biodiversity. Visitors can experience sea stars and sea urchins up close in the 'touch pools' and observe sharks and sea turtles in aquariums. Another focus is the amphibian rescue program. In addition, the center has nature trails through one of the last remaining dry forests on Panama's Pacific coast, where sloths and iguanas live freely. It is a crucial educational institution for raising awareness about the fragility of tropical oceans.
