Talamanca Mountains (Panama)

Weather…

The Cordillera de Talamanca is an international mountain range that straddles the border of Costa Rica and Panama. It is the highest and wildest non-volcanic mountain range in Central America. In Panama, the highest point of the range is the Barú Volcano, while the main crest of the chain continues into La Amistad International Park, a shared UNESCO World Heritage site between the two countries. Geologically, the area is an upfaulted massif of intrusive rocks. The range is covered by dense, pristine cloud forests and mountain rainforests, which possess extraordinary biodiversity and are home to numerous endemic species. Due to the area's isolation, its flora and fauna have remained undisturbed in many places. The mountain range also forms an important part of the traditional territories of the Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous people.
