The Poiana Curții Forest Reserve is a significant protected area in the Șoldănești District, encompassing approximately 21 hectares of land. It represents a vital sample of the forest-steppe vegetation typical of the Northern Moldavian Plateau, characterized by high botanical diversity. The woodland is primarily composed of Pubescent oak (Quercus pubescens) and Pedunculate oak, species well-adapted to the region's semi-arid climatic conditions. Within the forest glades, numerous rare steppe plants can be found, several of which are listed in the Red Data Book of Moldova. Geologically, the area is defined by limestone outcrops that create unique microhabitats for ferns and mosses. The reserve serves as an important refuge for local fauna and provides researchers valuable insights into the dynamics of natural forest-steppe ecosystems. Protecting this area is crucial for preserving the genetic diversity of indigenous flora in northern Moldova.

Visiting
The Poiana Curții Forest is a protected forest area that can be freely entered. You can hike on the existing forest roads, the area is not fenced.
Typical hours
As an open forest area, there are no opening hours, access is possible anytime. A visit during daylight is recommended, as the paths are not lit.
Photography
Photography is allowed without restrictions throughout the forest area. The old oaks and beeches with their mossy bark offer particularly atmospheric subjects in autumn.
Time needed
A long hike through the forest takes about 2 to 3 hours. For a short walk to the most distinctive trees, 45 minutes are enough.
Combine with
Combine the forest visit with the nearby Țipova Monastery for a mix of nature and culture. The village of Horodiște, known for its vineyards, is also not far.
Getting there
The forest is located about 5 km southwest of Horodiște, accessible via an unpaved road. A normal car gets through well in dry weather, a 4x4 is advantageous in rain.
Insider tip
Bring a map or GPS, as the paths are not signposted. In spring, rare snowdrops and liverworts bloom here - a special natural experience.
