Ek' Balam

Ek' Balam is a magnificent Maya archaeological site located in the northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, which has gained international fame following extensive excavations in recent decades. The city reached its height of power between 700 and 1000 AD, serving as the capital of the Talol kingdom. Its most imposing structure is the Acropolis, one of the largest ancient buildings in the Maya world, standing over thirty-two meters tall and offering dramatic views of the surrounding jungle.
