Munxar is a small, traditional village in southern Gozo, perched on a ridge between two deep valleys. The village's name means 'saw' in Maltese, a reference to the jagged, serrated profile of the surrounding cliffs and valley formations. Munxar is a relatively young parish, having been officially established as independent in 1921. Its parish church is dedicated to Saint Paul Shipwrecked and was constructed in the early 20th century. A significant feature of the municipality is the Sanap Cliffs, which rank among the island's highest and most spectacular coastal cliffs, providing panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. The village maintains a robust agricultural heritage, with terraced farming still actively practiced in the neighboring valleys. While acting as the gateway to the popular resort of Xlendi, Munxar itself remains a bastion of peace and traditional Gozitan lifestyle.
