Getting there
The steep-sided valley can be reached from the surrounding villages on Gozo, often via a narrow road leading down to the bay. Accessing the water level can be done either on foot or carefully by vehicle.

Spring and autumn are well-suited for hiking through the valley, as the temperatures in Malta are very pleasant then. In summer, the secluded bay at the end of the valley attracts many visitors looking to swim and cool off.

Terrain & paths
The slopes of the valley are rocky and steep, while the bottom mostly consists of stony paths or a narrow asphalt road. When hiking off the main road, caution is advised due to the uneven and natural ground.

What to bring
Light hiking shoes are advisable if you wish to explore the steep rocky slopes. Otherwise, during the warm months, be sure to pack swimwear, plenty of drinking water, and adequate sun protection.

Limited parking options are usually available right near the bay at the end of the road. During peak season, it can get crowded down there, making early arrival or parking further up the hill highly recommended.

On the narrow access road, pedestrians and vehicles must be considerate of each other. Along the steep flanks of the valley, it is important to stay away from the edges to minimize the risk of falling rocks.

One to two hours are usually sufficient for a simple visit to the bay and a short walk. However, if you plan to swim or explore the surrounding slopes more thoroughly, you can easily spend half a day here.
