Vaduz Castle is the official residence of the Princely House and is not open to the public. However, the exterior grounds and forecourt can be viewed anytime - the view over Vaduz is magnificent.

As the castle cannot be visited inside, there are no opening hours. The outdoor grounds are accessible at any time - at its best at sunset when the facade glows golden.

Photography from the outside is unrestricted and very popular. The best perspective is from the hiking path above the castle or from the valley station of the chairlift.

Time needed
Allow about 15 to 20 minutes for a walk around the castle and forecourt. From there you get fantastic views over Vaduz and the Rhine Valley.
Combine with
A hike from the castle to the nearby Red House or downtown Vaduz is highly recommended. Visiting the vineyard below the castle is also a great option.

Getting there
The castle sits above Vaduz and is reachable on foot via a steep path or by car (limited parking). By bus, go to 'Vaduz Zentrum' then walk about 15 minutes uphill.

Insider tip
Go early morning when the town is still quiet to photograph the castle in peace. The view from the access road down onto the roofs of Vaduz is unforgettable.
