Schlössle Vaduz (Liechtenstein)

Weather…

The Schlössle in Vaduz, located in the Mitteldorf district, is a remarkable late medieval residential building that now serves as a private home. It is distinguished by its characteristic crow-stepped gables and fortified tower-like appearance, which was typical for the minor nobility of the region. The core of the building likely dates back to the late 15th or early 16th century and has been modified several times over the centuries. A significant restoration took place in the early 20th century under the direction of architect Egon Rheinberger, who is also known for the restoration of Gutenberg Castle in Balzers. During this period, neo-Gothic elements were added, giving the Schlössle its current, almost fairy-tale appearance. Despite its name, which means 'little castle', it was never a military fortress but rather a prestigious manor. Today, it is a protected heritage site and, due to its location above the Städtle, remains a popular subject for photography, even though it is not open to the public.
