Monor is a town located on the eastern edge of the Budapest metropolitan area, at the transition between the Gödöllő Hills and the Great Hungarian Plain. Historically mentioned in 1398, Monor flourished in the 19th century as a market town on the major Budapest-Szolnok railway line. The town center is marked by several historical buildings, including a Neoclassical Reformed Church and the Catholic Church of the Assumption. Today, Monor serves as a popular destination for wine tourism while also being a residential hub for commuters working in the nearby capital city.
