Mosonmagyaróvár was formed in 1939 through the merger of Magyaróvár and Moson and is located near the Austrian and Slovakian borders at the meeting point of the Lajta and Mosoni-Danube rivers. The city is a major educational hub; its faculty of agriculture was founded in 1818 by Prince Albert Casimir, making it one of the oldest higher education institutions for agriculture in the world.
