Sale of Videoton FC

The municipal government of Székesfehérvár is seeking a long-term solution for the Videoton football club, which was previously repurchased for a symbolic price. A new tender for its sale has been announced.

Székesfehérvár was one of the most important centers of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary, serving as the official coronation city for centuries. The Holy Crown was kept here, and a total of 37 Hungarian monarchs were crowned within its walls in the once monumental basilica. The city is geographically located at the meeting point of the Transdanubian Mountains and the Mezőföld plain, making it a favorable transport and trade hub throughout history. Its historical city center features numerous Baroque and Neoclassical buildings, while the Ruin Garden displays the foundations of the coronation basilica founded by Saint Stephen. In the 20th century, it developed into a significant industrial city but retained its cultural and sacred importance. Today, it is the seat of Fejér County and a dominant economic and educational center of the region. Székesfehérvár's industrial base (Denso, Grundfos, Alcoa) remained stable in 2024-2025, while restoration of the historic core around the National Memorial Site entered a new phase.
