Weather…

Wilhelmshöhe Palace in Kassel is the centerpiece of Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, one of Europe's most significant baroque garden landscapes. The current neoclassical building was constructed between 1786 and 1798 commissioned by Landgrave William IX, based on designs by architects Simon Louis du Ry and Heinrich Christoph Jussow. It replaced an older baroque structure and served as a residence for the Hessian Electors and, for a time, for King Jérôme Bonaparte of Westphalia. Today, the palace houses the internationally renowned Old Masters Picture Gallery, which features masterpieces by Rembrandt, Rubens, and Frans Hals. A prominent feature of the palace is its central wing with a monumental portico, aligned with the Hercules monument and the elaborate water cascades. The entire complex was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2013, recognized for its unique hydrologic systems and architectural mastery. Near the palace lies the Löwenburg, an artificial castle ruin built in the spirit of Romanticism. The park covers approximately 240 hectares, offering visitors numerous hiking paths and scenic viewpoints.
