Limburg an der Lahn stands out with one of the most compact and well-preserved medieval old towns in Germany. High on a limestone rock sits the Limburg Cathedral, a prominent late Romanesque building easily recognized by its seven towers. Directly below the cathedral lies the historic town center, which survived the Second World War without major damage. While walking through the narrow streets, visitors pass numerous restored half-timbered buildings dating from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Notable examples include the Werner-Senger-Haus and old hall houses decorated with detailed wood carvings. The Old Lahn Bridge, built in the 14th century, crosses the river and highlights the town's historical role as a trading hub. The riverbank itself serves as a base for outdoor activities such as canoeing or cycling along the Lahntalradweg cycle path. Wine taverns and traditional cafes have established themselves in the alleys, offering Lahn wine and regional dishes.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun–Aug.
