Beyadde is a rural settlement located in the Dikhil Region in the interior of Djibouti. The town is situated on a vast, arid plain characterized by extremely high temperatures and very low annual rainfall. Geographically, the area belongs to the Afar Triangle, a geologically unstable region where the Earth's crust is particularly thin. Historically, Beyadde has been an integral part of the traditional grazing lands for local nomadic tribes, especially the Afar and Somali-Issa, who have led their herds here for generations. The local economy depends almost entirely on livestock farming, with the breeding of camels, well-adapted to the harsh desert conditions, playing a central role. Infrastructure is rudimentary, consisting mainly of well systems and seasonal dwellings that meet the needs of the migrating population. The town is located on an informal route leading toward the Ethiopian border and occasionally serves as a resting place for cross-border traders. Despite the hostile environmental conditions, Beyadde remains an important fixed point for the social organization of nomadic communities in this part of the Horn of Africa.
