Mount Assiniboine (Canada)

Weather…

Mount Assiniboine, frequently called the 'Matterhorn of the Rockies,' is a striking pyramidal peak located on the border between British Columbia and Alberta. Standing at an elevation of 3,618 meters, it is the highest point in the southern Continental Ranges of the Canadian Rockies. The mountain is situated within Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks. Its distinctive shape was carved by glacial erosion, resulting in four steep ridges and faces. The first successful ascent was recorded in 1901 by James Outram and his guides. Because there are no roads leading to the mountain, it remains accessible only via long-distance hiking or helicopter, preserving its pristine wilderness. The view of the peak from Lake Magog is widely considered one of the most iconic natural landscapes in all of Canada.
