Nagol is a historic village in the parish of Sant Julià de Lòria, located in southwestern Andorra. It extends at an altitude of approximately 1,150 meters along a steep slope overlooking the Valira valley. The site is famous for its two significant Romanesque churches: Sant Serni de Nagol and Sant Martí de Nagol. Sant Serni de Nagol, consecrated in 1055, is renowned for its original Romanesque wall paintings, which are among the oldest in the country. The architecture of the churches is characterized by simplicity, single-nave floor plans, and semicircular apses. Historically, Nagol was an important strategic settlement for monitoring access routes into the valley. The surrounding area features Mediterranean-influenced vegetation, including holm oaks and scrubland, due to its lower elevation and southern exposure. Hiking trails link the village to the Sanctuary of Canòlich, a major pilgrimage site. Today, Nagol maintains a quiet and secluded atmosphere despite its closeness to the urban center of Sant Julià de Lòria. The terraced construction of the houses perfectly adapts to the steep terrain.
