Canòlic is one of the most significant spiritual sites in the Principality of Andorra, housing the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Canòlic (Santuari de la Mare de Déu de Canòlic). It is located in the parish of Sant Julià de Lòria at an altitude of 1,551 meters on the slopes of the Bixessarri mountain. The current building was extensively renovated in the early 20th century but stands on a site where religious structures have existed since medieval times. Our Lady of Canòlic is the patron saint of the Sant Julià de Lòria municipality, and every year on the last Saturday of May, a major pilgrimage takes place with thousands of people climbing the mountain. Legend has it that a shepherd found the statue of the Virgin Mary at this spot in 1223 after being led there by a bird. Beyond its religious importance, Canòlic gives spectacular panoramic views of the Andorran valleys and serves as a starting point for numerous hiking trails through pristine nature.
