Princely Court of Târgoviște (Romania)

Weather…

The Princely Court of Târgoviște served as the political and cultural center of Wallachia from the 14th to the 17th century. This extensive monumental complex houses numerous historical buildings, including the ruins of the former Princely Palace and the Great Princely Church, famous for its well-preserved interior frescoes. The complex's most iconic landmark is the Chindia Tower (Turnul Chindiei), built in the 15th century under the reign of Vlad III Dracula as a defensive and observation post. From the top of the 27-meter tower, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. Târgoviște hosted over 30 ruling princes, including Mircea the Elder and Constantin Brâncoveanu, before the capital was permanently moved to Bucharest. The site reflects a mix of architectural styles ranging from the late Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Today, the Princely Court is a protected historical ensemble and museum, attracting thousands of visitors who come to explore the depths of Romania's medieval heritage.
