Naltar Valley (Pakistan)

Weather…

Naltar Valley is situated about 40 kilometers north of Gilgit city in Gilgit-Baltistan and is renowned for its extraordinary natural diversity. The valley is home to three famous alpine lakes, Satrangi Lake (seven-colored), Pari Lake, and Blue Lake, which are fed by glacial meltwater and known for their intense hues. Geographically, the valley is surrounded by dense pine forests, a rarity in the otherwise barren high-altitude desert landscape of the Karakoram. In winter, Naltar transforms into a premier skiing destination in Pakistan, featuring a chairlift and hosting international competitions. A significant portion of the valley is protected as the Naltar Wildlife Sanctuary to preserve rare species such as the Markhor goat and various migratory birds. The alpine climate results in cool summers and snowy winters, making the region a year-round attraction for nature lovers. Access to the valley involves a challenging road that is typically only navigable by 4WD vehicles.
