Christ of the Mercy Statue (Nicaragua)

Weather…

The Christ of the Mercy statue towers over the bay of San Juan del Sur from a high ridge, serving as one of Nicaragua's most recognizable modern landmarks. Completed in 2009, the monument stands at a total height of 24 meters, with the statue itself measuring 15 meters atop a 9-meter pedestal. It was constructed using fiberglass and steel to ensure durability against the strong winds common along the Pacific coast. The trek to the monument follows a steep incline, but visitors are rewarded with what is arguably the finest panoramic view in the country, overlooking the ocean and the colorful town below. The site is particularly popular during sunset, attracting crowds who come to appreciate the spiritual ambiance and the vast horizon. A small chapel is located at the base of the statue for prayer and reflection. Initiated by Nicaraguan businessman Erwin González, the project has evolved into a significant destination for both pilgrims and international travelers.
