Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar, often referred to as a 'miniature Versailles,' is one of Malta's most magnificent aristocratic palaces. The original structure was built in 1733 by Grand Master António Manoel de Vilhena as a summer residence and was later acquired by the wealthy Scicluna family. In the late 19th century, Marquis Giuseppe Scicluna commissioned an extensive renovation in an eclectic style, employing Italian craftsmen and artists to decorate the interior. The palace is renowned for its grand ballroom, which features exquisite gold leaf ornamentation, frescoes, and intricate stucco work. Geographically, the palace is located in the historic core of Naxxar and is famous for its large, terraced Baroque gardens, which are among the finest on the island. These gardens house a remarkable collection of citrus trees, Jacarandas, and diverse Mediterranean flora. Today, Palazzo Parisio serves as a private museum and a premier venue for exclusive events, providing a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the Maltese nobility. The blend of European art history and local craftsmanship makes it a unique cultural landmark.
