South Tip

A very quiet area with natural vegetation and few people, convenient for meditation.

Felidhoo is the capital of Vaavu Atoll, the most sparsely populated administrative atoll of the Maldives, about 60 kilometers south of Malé. The island has just around 500 inhabitants, making it one of the smallest atoll capitals by population in the country. Felidhoo is regarded as a cultural center for traditional Boduberu music, the rhythmic drum music reflecting the heritage of medieval African slaves, and hosts active groups that perform regularly. Life is very quiet, shaped by fishing, small scale agriculture and a cautiously growing guesthouse tourism scene. Off the island lie some of the finest dive sites in the Maldives, including Miyaru Kandu (Shark Channel), Fotteyo Kandu, ranked by National Geographic among the world's top ten dive sites, and Devana Kandu with manta ray cleaning stations. The island has a school, a small clinic, a harbor and a modest atoll administration office.
