Oberweyer is a significant part of the Weyer district in the municipality of Schellenberg, distinguished by its rich historical substance. The area was settled as early as the Bronze Age, as evidenced by important archaeological finds in the immediate vicinity. Oberweyer is situated on a terrace of the Eschnerberg ridge and features an impressive view of the Rhine Valley and the opposite Vorarlberg region. The hamlet's architecture is characterized by the historic 'Biedermann House,' one of the oldest timber houses in Liechtenstein, which now serves as an annex of the National Museum. This 16th-century building illustrates the traditional rural living culture of the region. Oberweyer was once an administrative center of the Lordship of Schellenberg before administrative structures were centralized. Today, it is a protected settlement area where the preservation of historical monuments and careful modern development go hand in hand. The surrounding nature is characterized by well-maintained cultural landscapes and woodland patches that invite hiking and the discovery of Liechtenstein history.
