Parish Church of St. Lawrence (Liechtenstein)

Weather…

The Parish Church of St. Lawrence in Schaan is the largest place of worship in the Principality of Liechtenstein and defines the townscape with its imposing neo-Gothic tower. The building was constructed between 1888 and 1893 according to the plans of Viennese architect Gustav von Neumann, after the 12th-century predecessor had become too small for the growing congregation. The church is characterized by its clear architectural structure and the use of regional limestone, which lends the edifice a noble appearance. Inside, the artistic stained-glass windows and the magnificent high altar, depicting the community's patron saints, are particularly impressive. The acoustics of the vast nave are regularly utilized for high-caliber organ concerts. As the spiritual center of Schaan, the church is not only a place of prayer but also a significant monument of late 19th-century religious architecture in the Alpine region.
