Csongrád is a town located at the confluence of the Tisza and Hármas-Körös rivers in the Southern Great Plain of Hungary. The settlement has a rich history dating back to the conquest period and was already mentioned in the Gesta Hungarorum as a significant fortress. One of the town's most unique features is the "Belváros" (Old Town) district, a protected monument area consisting of 37 thatched-roof fishermen's houses that preserve the traditional folk lifestyle of the 18th and 19th centuries. Csongrád is also nationally famous for the "Körös-torok," a sandy beach on the Tisza that attracts thousands of vacationers in the summer with its 700-meter-long sandy shoreline. In addition to water tourism, viticulture plays an important role in the town's economy, particularly the production of local wines. The Baroque St. Roch Church, built in 1769, and the Csongrád Museum provide further cultural insights. The surrounding riverine floodplains are part of the Kiskunság National Park, offering excellent opportunities for hiking and birdwatching.
