Bad Homburg Palace (Germany)

Weather…

Bad Homburg Palace served for centuries as the residence of the Landgraves of Hesse-Homburg and later became the preferred summer residence of Prussian kings and German emperors. The current Baroque complex was constructed between 1680 and 1685 under Landgrave Friedrich II on the foundations of a medieval castle. A prominent remnant of the earlier fortress is the 'White Tower,' a freestanding 14th-century keep that overlooks the palace grounds. The palace is particularly noted for its well-preserved interiors from various eras, including the imperial apartments of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Empress Auguste Viktoria. The adjacent palace park is designed in the English landscape style and features rare tree species such as the famous Lebanon cedars planted in the 19th century. Today, the palace ensemble is a significant cultural monument managed by the State Palaces and Gardens of Hesse. It reflects the close connection between local noble history and the imperial representation of the 19th century.
