SOPHIA brings her tour to the TH-Campus summer stage. A magical evening of German pop music in Aschaffenburg.
Right on the banks of the Main against the backdrop of Johannisburg Castle, it is the largest folk festival of the south-eastern Rhine-Main region, with rides, a festival tent and big fireworks in late June.
Aschaffenburg, often referred to as the Bavarian Nice due to its exceptionally mild climate, is situated on the banks of the Main River and provides a rich blend of culture, history, and nature. The landmark of the city is the massively built Johannisburg Castle, a large Renaissance structure made of red sandstone from the early 17th century that dominates the skyline. Art lovers can view the extensive Cranach collection here, while the Pompejanum, a globally unique replica of a Roman villa, brings ancient architectural concepts closer to visitors. The extensive Schönbusch Park, one of the oldest English landscape gardens in Bavaria, invites visitors to take long walks with its shaded avenues, a classic maze, and small lakes. In the historic old town, traditional Bavarian inns and wine taverns serve hearty regional specialties. The immediate proximity to the densely wooded Spessart region also makes the city a very well-connected starting point for hiking and cycling tours through a varied landscape.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun–Aug.
