The forest area in northern Eswatini is generally well accessible via the regional road network surrounding Piggs Peak. It is highly advisable to use a private vehicle, as public transport options in these rural forestry districts operate very irregularly.
Best season
A visit is highly rewarding all year round, but the noticeably cooler, much drier winter months from May to August offer very pleasant hiking conditions. During the summer rainy season, the entire landscape shines in a particularly intense, bustling green.
Terrain & paths
The hilly to somewhat mountainous landscape is deeply intersected by numerous forestry roads and completely unpaved tracks. Hikers can look forward to gently sloping paths under tall trees, though the ground can become extremely slippery after heavy rainfall.
What to bring
Sturdy, strongly water-resistant footwear is absolutely advisable for the frequently damp forest trails. Visitors should also diligently carry insect repellent, sufficient drinking water, and a reliable map, as the paths are not clearly signposted everywhere.

Vehicles can usually be safely parked without any problems right at the edges of the forest or near nearby accommodations and viewpoints. Official, paved large-scale parking lots do not generally exist at all in this predominantly agricultural area.
