Temple of Music (Costa Rica)

Weather…

The Temple of Music is located in Morazán Park in the heart of San José and is regarded as one of the most elegant architectural landmarks in the Costa Rican capital. It was designed in 1920 by architect José Francisco Salazar and inaugurated on December 24 of that year. The pavilion's design is heavily inspired by the Temple of Love in the gardens of the Petit Trianon at Versailles, showcasing refined Neoclassical features. The structure is built almost entirely of reinforced concrete, which represented a significant technological innovation for the region at that time. Originally, the temple served as a stage for the weekly concerts performed by the military band and continues to be a central venue for cultural events and public ceremonies today. Due to its outstanding acoustics and aesthetic symmetry, the building was declared a part of Costa Rica's National Architectural Heritage in 1975. It remains a symbol of the city's cultural flourishing during the early 20th century.
