Weather…

Valley Forge, located in southeastern Pennsylvania, was the site of the massive winter encampment of the Continental Army under General George Washington from December 1777 to June 1778 during the American Revolutionary War. The encampment is universally recognized not as a site of a massive battle, but as a crucible of suffering and ultimate transformation. The army endured massive, severe deprivation, including rampant disease, starvation, and brutal exposure, resulting in the deaths of nearly 2,000 soldiers. However, under the massive, rigorous training instituted by the Prussian officer Baron von Steuben, the ragged militia was fundamentally reorganized and drilled into a massive, unified, and highly disciplined professional military force capable of engaging the British army.
