Tibar Bay Port is East Timor's most modern infrastructure project and serves as the country's new maritime gateway. Located about 12 kilometers west of Dili, this deep-water port was designed to replace the outdated port in downtown Dili for freight. The project was realized under a public-private partnership with the French company Bolloré and officially opened in late 2022. With a water depth of up to 15 meters, the port can accommodate modern container ships that previously could not dock in East Timor. The facility features a state-of-the-art terminal with a capacity of approximately 600,000 TEU (standard containers) per year. This infrastructure project is crucial for the country's economic diversification, as it lowers import and export costs and promotes regional trade integration. Tibar Bay is regarded as a flagship project for international investment in East Timor and sets new standards for logistical efficiency in Southeast Asia.
