Pedro Tea Estate (Sri Lanka)

Weather…

Pedro Tea Estate is a historic plantation situated about 3.5 kilometers east of Nuwara Eliya, at the foot of Pidurutalagala, Sri Lanka's highest mountain. Established in 1885, it is one of the most famous tea estates in the country and was a key site during the early development of the Ceylon tea industry. Due to its high elevation of over 1,900 meters, the estate produces some of the lightest and most delicate teas in the region, often referred to as "Nuwara Eliya tea." The factory at Pedro is known for its traditional processing methods, and much of the production occurs at night when the temperatures are cooler to preserve the tea's subtle aroma. Visitors can take guided tours of the factory to learn about the journey from leaf to cup and enjoy tea overlooking the lush green hills. The estate is also famous for the nearby "Lovers Leap" waterfall, which is accessible via a short hike through the tea bushes.
