Kruševac is located in the West Morava valley and is a city of immense historical significance for Serbia. Founded in 1371 by Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović as his capital, it served as the political and cultural center of medieval Serbia prior to the pivotal Battle of Kosovo. The centerpiece of the city's historical complex is the Lazarica Church, a masterpiece of the Morava architectural school built to honor the birth of Lazar's son, Stefan Lazarević. Today, only ruins remain of the once-mighty fortress, including the prominent Donjon Tower. The city is also home to a distinguished National Museum and the Monument to the Heroes of Kosovo, which stands as a symbol of national identity. Throughout the 20th century, Kruševac evolved into a major industrial center, particularly in chemical and machinery production. This blend of medieval heritage and modern industrial strength makes Kruševac a key destination in central Serbia.
