Jagodina is a prominent city in Central Serbia, located in the Pomoravlje District along the Belica River. It was first mentioned in historical records in 1399 as Jagodna in a charter issued by Princess Milica. During the Ottoman period, it evolved into a significant trading post on the road between Belgrade and Constantinople. The 19th century brought industrial growth, highlighted by the establishment of Serbia's first glass factory in 1846 and a brewery in 1852. Today, Jagodina is a modern administrative and industrial hub, particularly noted for its cable production and food processing industries. In recent years, the city has transformed into a tourist destination, featuring Serbia's first aqua park, the nation's only wax museum, and a large regional zoo. Geographically situated in the fertile Morava Valley, Jagodina serves as a key transport link, situated on the main railway line and highway connecting Belgrade with Niš and further south to North Macedonia and Greece.
