Nasho is a sector in the Kirehe district of Rwanda's dry Eastern Province. The region is known for one of the country's most ambitious irrigation projects, the Nasho irrigation system. This project, developed with Israeli assistance, has transformed thousands of hectares of dry land into fertile arable land. It allows for the year-round cultivation of crops such as maize and beans. Nasho is also the site of one of Rwanda's first solar power plants. The Nasho solar field contributes to the region's electricity supply and the country's energy independence. The combination of modern agriculture and renewable energy makes Nasho a model for rural development in Rwanda. The project has significantly improved the living conditions of the local population.
