Voluntari is a city in Ilfov County, directly bordering the northern districts of Bucharest, and is recognized as one of the fastest-growing urban areas in Romania. The settlement was established after World War I to provide land for war volunteers, which is the direct origin of its name. Over the last two decades, Voluntari has transformed from a primarily agricultural village into a massive economic hub, largely centered around the Pipera business district. Today, it hosts numerous international corporate headquarters, modern office buildings, and high-end residential complexes. Its strategic positioning near the Bucharest Ring Road and the A3 motorway makes it a vital node for logistics and commercial activities. Although functionally integrated into the capital's metropolitan fabric, Voluntari maintains its own administrative status and continues to expand its infrastructure to accommodate a growing population.
