Mazar-e-Quaid (Pakistan)

Weather…

Mazar-e-Quaid, the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, is the most significant landmark in the city of Karachi. Erected in the 1960s and completed in 1970, the structure is a masterpiece of modern Islamic architecture. Designed by architect Yahya Merchant, the mausoleum is made of radiant white marble and stands out for its simple cubic form with prominent rounded arches. The building sits on an elevated platform in the middle of an extensive park (Bagh-e-Quaid), creating an oasis of calm in the bustling metropolis. The interior houses a magnificent crystal chandelier, a gift from the People's Republic of China, which hangs above the cenotaph of 'Quaid-e-Azam' (the Great Leader). Ceremonial changing of the guard takes place daily, emphasizing national reverence for Jinnah. Mazar-e-Quaid is not only a burial site but a symbol of the unity, faith, and discipline of the Pakistani nation.
