The formation consists of a series of imposing red rock cliffs rising above a lush, green valley. The name comes from the rocks' resemblance to a row of massive bulls. In the immediate vicinity, there is another well-known rock formation called the "Broken Heart," which is particularly popular among couples. The area around Jeti-Ögüz is known not only for its striking geology but also for its thermal springs, which have been utilized in a nearby sanatorium since the Soviet era. The surrounding mountains and gorges also offer numerous hiking trails through fir forests and alpine meadows.

Visiting
The Jeti-Ögüz Rocks are a freely accessible natural monument in Kyrgyzstan. The red sandstone formations can be viewed from hiking trails; no entrance fee is charged.
Typical hours
As it is an open natural area, there are no time restrictions. Visits are recommended during daylight to best see the colors of the rocks.
Photography
Photography is allowed everywhere; the red rocks offer spectacular contrasts. For the best light, come early morning or late afternoon.
Time needed
A short walk to the main viewpoints takes about an hour. For a more extensive hike in the area, allow two to three hours.
Combine with
Combine the visit with the nearby Issyk-Kul Lake, a popular holiday destination. The city of Karakol with its wooden cathedral is also worth a day trip.
Getting there
The rocks are about 40 kilometers southwest of Karakol and reachable by car. The road is mostly paved; a 4WD is not required.
