The Port of Les Cayes is the most important port in southern Haiti, serving as a central transshipment point for the region's import and export goods. It enables trade in agricultural products such as coffee, cocoa, and fruits, as well as the transport of goods for the local economy.
Visiting
The port is an active industrial area with limited access, but the quays and warehouses are visible from the adjacent waterfront promenade. Visitors can observe the activity of fishing boats and small cargo ships from a safe distance.
Where to view it
The best view is from the promenade along Rue du Port, from which the entire port area with its cranes and containers can be seen. The Les Cayes Beach Hotel also gives a good view of the port entrance from its terrace.
