Located approximately 12 kilometers west of Santo Domingo at the mouth of the Haina River, the port is strategically divided into two banks: the West Bank (Haina Occidental) and the East Bank (Haina Oriental), handling different types of cargo. Haina is a multipurpose facility that processes containers, dry bulk, liquids, and vehicles, playing a central role in the nation's foreign trade. The surrounding Haina industrial zone is one of the largest in the country, making the port an indispensable logistics hub for local manufacturers. Despite competition from newer facilities like Caucedo, Haina remains vital due to its proximity to the country's primary consumption center, the capital.
