Praděd, standing at 1,491 meters, is the highest peak of the Hrubý Jeseník mountain range and the highest point in Moravia. It is the centerpiece of the Praděd National Nature Reserve, established in 1955 to protect the alpine tundra and rare plant species unique to the area. The most recognizable feature of the summit is the 162-meter-tall television and observation tower, whose tip actually reaches a higher altitude than the natural peak of Sněžka. The tower includes a restaurant and a viewing gallery that has expansive views of the Sudetes and, on clear days, as far as the Alps. Geologically, the mountain is composed of crystalline schists and displays evidence of past glacial activity. The surrounding region is a premier destination for skiing and hiking, attracting visitors throughout the year to its pristine natural environment and unique subalpine flora.

The highest peak in Moravia is typically accessed via paved roads or well-marked hiking trails starting from the popular resort of Ovčárna. Shuttle buses frequently transport visitors from lower parking areas closer to the main alpine trailheads.

Summer gives excellent hiking conditions, while the winter months transform the area into a premier destination for skiing and snowshoeing. The high elevation ensures that a substantial snow cover often lasts well into the spring season.
