The Ragged Point Lighthouse stands as a prominent sentinel on the easternmost tip of Barbados, in the parish of Saint Philip. Completed in 1875, the 97-foot stone tower was built using local coral limestone to guide ships safely past the treacherous Cobblers Rocks reefs. These reefs were notorious for causing numerous shipwrecks before the lighthouse provided its vital warning beam across the Atlantic. Architecturally, it is one of the four historic lighthouses on the island, showcasing a sturdy Victorian design typical of British maritime infrastructure in the Caribbean. While the lighthouse is no longer fully operational in its traditional capacity, it remains an iconic landmark and a testament to the island's seafaring history.
