Hellbrunn Palace (Austria)

Weather…

Hellbrunn Palace near Salzburg was built between 1612 and 1615 on behalf of Prince-Archbishop Markus Sittikus von Hohenems and is considered one of the most magnificent examples of Mannerist architecture north of the Alps. The palace was designed purely as a 'pleasure palace' for summer amusements and therefore has no bedrooms. World-famous are the Hellbrunn Trick Fountains, which have remained almost unchanged in their original form. They consist of mechanical theaters, water-spouting grottoes, and hidden nozzles designed to surprise guests in a humorous way. The expansive parkland combines geometric garden art with natural elements and houses the Monatsschlössl and the Stone Theater, one of the oldest open-air stages in Europe. Hellbrunn reflects the lifestyle and artistic taste of the early 17th century and is today a popular destination for visitors from around the world.
