Water temperature…
Les Escaldes is a historic district of the Escaldes-Engordany parish, world-famous for its natural thermal springs. The name is derived from the Latin 'Calidae', referring to the hot water springs that bubble up from the ground here at temperatures of up to 70 degrees Celsius. These springs were known as far back as antiquity and in the Middle Ages formed the basis for a flourishing textile industry, as the hot water was convenient for cleaning wool. In the 20th century, Les Escaldes developed into a major center for health tourism and wellness, culminating in the opening of the Caldea complex in 1994, one of Europe's largest thermal spas. Geographically, the town is located at the confluence of the Valira del Nord and Valira d'Orient valleys. The architecture is a blend of traditional granite buildings and cutting-edge glass structures. Beyond the wellness sector, Les Escaldes is also known for its art scene, notably through the CAEE art center. The area's development is closely linked to Andorra's economic modernization and the innovative use of geothermal energy.
